About The Masonic Home of Missouri

The Masonic Home of Missouri has evolved beyond a physical home. The Masonic Home of Missouri offers multiple programs to help Missouri Masons, their wives or widows, Eastern Star ladies, and children, wherever they live.

The Masonic Home of Missouri offers programs and services to help Missouri Masons, their wives, and widows, and Missouri female members of the Order of the Easter Star thrive, wherever they live.

Historic Beginnings

The Masonic Home of Missouri was founded to provide a suitable and healthy place for widows and orphans of worthy, deceased Missouri Masons to live. It was 1889, and at that time, there were no such programs as Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid.

The first Home opened on Delmar Avenue in St. Louis. It contained 20 rooms on a 15-acre property. Della Gale Farthing, age 12, was the very first resident of the Masonic Home of Missouri.

In 1891, all the Lodges in Missouri began to contribute 50 cents per year per member to support the Home, and the Order of the Eastern Star would begin an annual per capita dues payment for each member starting in 1904.

The Home built a second residence in Kansas City in 1985. After societal changes and new challenges, the Masonic Home of Missouri decided to take a new approach in 1991.

A Mindset Shift

The Masonic Home’s Board of Directors recognized there was a more effective way to provide care for more members of the Masonic Family.

Since 1991, The Masonic Home of Missouri has provided programs to assist individuals in their own homes and communities in every corner of the state.

This shift has allowed the Masonic Home to become more than a building: it’s an organization with unlimited potential. In 2019, the Masonic Home impacted the lives of more than 26,000 individuals.

Please consider donating today to help us assist Masonic Families across the state.

If you’re a member of the Masonic family in need: We are where you are.
